Goodbye Jobs, Hello Global Crisis!

The industry... Aaah.. This is one topic that is very much close to the globe's heart considering the world and employment crisis today. Communication technology.. Probably the first thing I could think of when it comes to industrialization were factories! Yes.. But in our country today, where were those factories who promised globalization? Those who asked for the people's land in those remote places and promised a better job and source of income?

There indeed and undoubtedly a huge role of communication technology in the development of industries. However, I am being and absolutely blinded that these development could create a devastating effect to the common people who just ask for minimum wage in order to survive a day in their life. With every news i watch and hear, companies and other factories in the country is now for closure or their employment rate is at its lowest. I've heard stories that factory workers go to work thrice a week. How much income do they earn from that? Hmmm.. A development in communication technology would probably be the hi tech machineries and gadgets. Where manpower is not really an issue anymore. Lucky for those who's in the field of technology and scientific and advanced researched. But how bout those people who just work and need an income for a day. In a few years from now, I believe the industry will be depending on those machineries, robotics, electronic gadgets or whatever they want to call it. And that yeah. I guess that is the role of communication technology in development in industrialization. But how about the common people who still believes in manpower and hard work?

I am so bitter to this. To all who lose their jobs because of the unstoppable inventions and upgrades in technology. :-(

Books Aren't Dead. (They're Just Going Digital) -Newsweek

Communication and technology combined together created a huge impact in the world of schooling and learning. Who can say technology is a waste of money when a lot of students depend their daily source of information to it? Internet, cyber encyclopedias and the like are just few of what communication technology has to offer when it comes to educating minds.

But see, it's not all about the role or application of communication technology in education. Each aspect of our society whether political, economic or whatever is linked to one another. The role of each one of it depends on the role of another one. A domino effect might happen if one failed to reach the technology times.

My point is, for instance... There's a great technology difference in education depending on the economic status of a nation. The economic status is obviously linked to the political aspect. And if this two were on the downside, the development of communication technology in culture will also be as slow as it was before. Without knowing the role of technology in education, how can a nation produce a well-educated and exceptional students? These students are badly needed in order for the economic, political and cultural aspects of a nation to go further and develop.

So basically, communication technology in education is not just about the help of computers and the internet to the students. A good role and application of communication technology should be observed in every need of a nation: education, economic, politics, culture etc.

So maybe i kinda lost the point... I could tell a more harmless role of technology in the development of education. Think of any subject or course you've taken that didn't use technology? None right? See, computers are now integrated to every curriculum we take in school. Whether it is art, science, literature, engineering... We already use technology as a mean to survive and pass those subjects.

Reality check: Communication technology in education, as important as the water we drink everyday, is now stapled in our future. All jobs in the future will probably involved computing and access to it. That is the role and application of communication technology in development when it comes to education.

Spotted: Digital Divide in Culture

In the present days of our lives, a so-called “Digital Divide” is now inevitable. Technology has reached a point where century's ago, a man could only imagine such ideas. Today, each country has their own way of using technology and it's role or application to a certain community or population.

When you belong to the silver spooned side of the digital divide, it only means that you have the access to go with what's new or what's relevant today. Advantageous to your side if you live on a country where technology is very much used. The culture of the people today when it comes to technology, empirically speaking, is all about reaching out to other culture and well, yeah... Communicating with people as well. Merging culture and beliefs through various blogs, online communities, messengers, chat rooms and forums. In such forums I've seen on the net, a debate on cultures, traditions or practices is very much talked about. People on the blessed side of technology like having access to computers and the net has an easy way of expressing and sharing their thoughts and culture.

However, being on the less fortunate side of the digital divide means that there is less opportunity to take part in our new information-based economy, in which many more jobs and stuffs will be related to computers. Okay.. So let's set aside culture for a meantime.. It also means that there is less opportunity to take part in the education, training, shopping, entertainment and communications opportunities that are available online. Still, my point is, in general, those who are poor and live in rural or remote areas are about probably 20 times in danger of being left behind than wealthier residents of suburban areas who has easy access to computers.

But who knows, probably in a decade or two, a dramatic change in communication technology might occurred again. Technology is unpredictable anyway.
